Why there are different product lines for safety shoes
Safety shoes are no longer just "work shoes with steel toes." Safety shoes are technologically advanced protective devices that are developed and adapted depending on the industry, work environment, and individual requirements. They combine injury prevention with wearing comfort and functionality. Whether production, construction, skilled trades, logistics, or laboratories: different areas of application demand different solutions.
Specialized for Your Industry
STABILUS® Safety product lines are distinguished by their applied sole constructions, which differ in three essential characteristics: the sole material used, the sole tread, and the injection mold. All three aspects enable us to manufacture safety shoes and safety boots that meet your personal needs.
In addition to the sole construction, the selection of upper material plays an essential role. It contributes to expanding the variety of applications within the respective product lines and thus represents the right solution for many users.
A well-thought-out tread is no accident
The sole tread is a central safety element of safety shoes. It largely determines slip resistance, self-cleaning of the sole, stability on various surfaces, and also safety on ladders (keyword: Ladder Grip).
For example: On construction sites, safety boots and shoes with coarse tread patterns are required. This means that the grooves and channels of the sole are relatively wide and deep, so that moisture or water can be displaced and drained away effectively. In addition, a Ladder Grip is advisable to reduce the risk of slipping on ladders or scaffolding.
In the warehouse, on the other hand, shoes with a finely grooved lamellar tread offer a larger contact area with industrial floors. In combination with the right sole material, the risk of slipping is minimized, and the pressure load during the rolling motion is also reduced due to the larger surface area.
The right material is essential
To achieve the required functionality of an outsole in modern safety shoes, the material composition is of central importance. Depending on the material, damping, weight, slip resistance, temperature resistance, and wear resistance differ significantly. PU/PU, EVA, TPU, and rubber soles have different properties that are desired or undesirable depending on the work application.
PU/PU (polyurethane) stands for a double-foamed polyurethane sole – a softer, tendentially lighter midsole for cushioning and a denser outsole for abrasion resistance.
EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) is a very light, flexibly foamed plastic that is often used in athletic safety shoes and offers high flexibility as well as very good shock absorption (anti-shock/damping).
TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is denser and more resistant than foamed PU and is often used as an outsole in combination with PU midsoles. TPU is therefore somewhat heavier but has better abrasion resistance and is more resistant to oil and fuels:
Rubber is a classic sole material and particularly robust. It is very abrasion-resistant, more resistant to many chemicals, and also more heat-resistant to contact heat up to 300°C. The compromise for this is a higher weight and lower flexibility.
The injection mold makes it fit
The injection mold is the precisely manufactured template into which materials such as PU, TPU, or rubber are injected to directly connect the sole to the upper. This process – also known as direct injection molding – is standard for many safety shoes.
The mold defines not only the tread and thickness of the outsole but also its length and width. This changes the fit of the shoe as well as its cushioning properties and rolling behavior. For energetically effective cushioning, we use different technologies, also known as shock absorbers or anti-shock technologies. These include IRP damping, the Vibratec element, and Blue foam technology.

The result: comfort for professionals who are constantly on the move and don't want to compromise on safety and performance.
Welder's Boots - Protection against Sparks and Molten Metal Splatter
Welders face red-hot challenges every day: flying sparks, glowing metal spatter, and extremely high temperatures demand professional protective equipment.
In the welder category, STABILUS® Safety presents the KONRAD Welder's Boot and, for occasional welding work, welder gaiters that can be easily pulled over safety boots and shoes – developed for your safety. Whether for MAG or MIG welding, in metal workshops, steel construction, or on assembly jobs: The KONRAD welder's boot is the first choice for anyone who welds regularly. With it, your feet are protected.
Certified according to DIN EN ISO 20349
The KONRAD welder's boot offers comprehensive heat protection during welding work and protects against flying sparks and metal spatter. Certified according to DIN EN ISO 20349 for welders, the additional leather protection over the instep withstands extreme heat exposure and can be quickly opened in an emergency thanks to the Velcro fastener – even with gloves!
The contact heat-resistant rubber outsole withstands temperatures up to 300 °C, and the penetration-resistant, metal-free fabric insole offers additional protection against injuries. Despite the robust protection, the ergonomic width and breathable leather ensure a good foot climate, even during long welding operations.
If you only occasionally carry out minor welding work, we recommend our welder gaiters. These can be quickly and easily pulled over normal (safety) shoes with two leather straps. The leather gaiter covers the instep, so metal sparks bounce off and cannot penetrate the shoe. Clever, right?!
BASICLINE CONSTRUCTION - ROBUST, AFFORDABLE, GOOD
The BASICLINE BAU models from STABILUS® Safety are equipped with reliable S3 safety technology and the most important safety features that a good and robust men's safety shoe or boot needs.
It is important to note that the BASIC BAU models feature a steel midsole. Those who only think "heavy" here haven't fully considered it. The steel midsole provides special safety in terms of penetration resistance. Another advantage of the steel midsole is that it offers additional resistance when shoveling and doing similar work, which makes the footing firmer and puts less strain on the sole of the foot. This is also comfort that anyone who has spent hours digging earth will appreciate – and all this at an excellent price-performance ratio.
Easy-care leather upper
Additionally, the upper is made of leather – just as you need it on a construction site if safety boots and shoes are to last a long time. Furthermore, the full-grain smooth leather is easy to care for and at the same time durable. Dirt can be simply wiped off.
By the way: The coarse tread also supports the self-cleaning of the outsole and gives fine gravel no chance. The S3 models also feature a breathable textile lining for a pleasant foot climate and an antistatic function, as well as a shock absorber in the heel area.
BASIC BAU: The models rely on robust materials and meet the demands of construction. Low shoe or boot? Choose for yourself!

XB – Extra Wide Protective Toe Cap
Are your feet particularly wide at the front? Then our XB series offers the perfect solution. "XB" stands for "extra wide" – an extra-wide toe cap that is a good 10% wider than conventional toe caps.
People with wide forefeet, splayfoot, or flat feet, in particular, know the problem: the toes hit the side of the protective cap, are constricted, and are under constant pressure. The consequences can be pressure points, pain, numb toes, or long-term foot problems. This is precisely where STABILUS® Safety's XB series comes in.
10% additional toe freedom
XB stands for "Extra Wide" and refers to a specially developed toe cap that is around 10% wider than conventional safety caps. The extra space is created where it is actually needed – in the forefoot or toe area. Unlike classic multi-width systems from other manufacturers, which primarily widen the shaft, the XB system specifically focuses on the anatomically crucial zone of the foot. As a result,
wearers with wider feet particularly benefit from significantly more freedom of movement and a comfortable, pain-free walking experience.
The larger toe cap allows for a more natural toe position and reduces pressure on toe joints, balls of the foot, and the forefoot. This can reduce friction and the development of pressure points as well as painful stress symptoms.
Especially during long working days in trades, industry, logistics, production, or in the warehouse, the difference is noticeable. Where conventional safety shoes often feel constricting, the XB series offers noticeably more comfort – without compromising on safety and stability.
With XB, STABILUS® Safety relies on a solution that is not just wider, but creates more space where many feet really need it: in the toe area. For more comfort, a healthier foot feeling, and less pain throughout the workday.
BIOAIR – PATENTED, CLIMATIZED INSOLE
The BIOAIR series from STABILUS® Safety is characterized by the patented Wörishofer BIOAIR deep footbed. The special sole construction increases breathability due to the integrated air channels and adapts to the anatomy of the foot due to the ergonomically shaped footbed.
BIOAIR is the "tailor-made suit with automatic climate control" among work safety shoes: robust and norm-compliant protection on the outside, anatomically shaped and actively climate-regulating on the inside.
Active air circulation is generated by the combination of a perforated, vegetable-tanned leather insole and intelligently placed air channels in the deep footbed hollow body. High air circulation counteracts perspiration and reduces odor formation.
Integrated anatomical footbed
The anatomically shaped footbed is clearly defined and noticeably different from conventional insoles. The distinctive footbed supports the longitudinal arch of the foot, and the optimized contact surface of the foot allows for even pressure distribution over the entire foot surface, reducing localized pressure peaks.
The unique BIOAIR sole construction must be understood as a single unit. The sole is not interchangeable; there is no removable insole. Instead, the insole is made of leather. Leather has the property of regulating moisture.
At this point, we can only emphasize: The patented footbed is worth experiencing, as it is clearly and noticeably pronounced. In addition, the integrated leather insole absorbs moisture very well and slowly releases it again, keeping the feet dry.
THE JOGGER – ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Agility, endurance, and extreme concentration – just like in sports, the workday also demands peak performance. With the JOGGER line from STABILUS® Safety, the dynamism of a running shoe combines with the uncompromising protective function of a professional work safety shoe.
The heart of the JOGGER is the patented outsole with Vibram® technology, known for its excellent slip resistance, abrasion resistance, and durability.
The specially developed sole geometry supports the natural rolling motion, offers excellent grip on various surfaces, and impresses with pronounced durability in everyday work.
High-quality, breathable high-tech textiles ensure a comfortable foot climate, and the ergonomically designed insole supports pressure distribution and noticeably increases wearing comfort.
In addition to its technical features, the JOGGER impresses with its fashionable and dynamic design. The sporty design makes it a safety shoe that not only protects but also looks appealing.

The integrated Vibratec cushioning element widely distributes localized impact pressure across the entire heel surface and effectively reduces load peaks. The shoe adapts to the natural heel shape under load, ensuring even pressure distribution. For increased comfort, a breathable functional lining is used in the inner shoe.
The FITLINE CLASSICS series from STABILUS® Safety is the successful answer to hard indoor and outdoor floors.
Cut protection with a seal of approval
Anyone working in forestry or grounds maintenance needs reliable cut protection. You know that a chainsaw is an indispensable part of daily life. This makes reliable cut-resistant boots all the more important—boots that protect your feet with every movement while being designed to be functionally sound and comfortably balanced.
The S2 forestry boot SEPP by STABILUS® Safety meets these requirements perfectly and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 17249:2007. It also carries the KWF Standard quality seal—tested by the Board of Trustees for Forestry Work and Forestry Technology—thereby guaranteeing reliable protection during cutting work in the forest and in grounds maintenance.
Smart concept: The outsole and the shaft
The PU/PU sole with a self-cleaning profile ensures sure-footedness on slippery surfaces. For this, we selected a material blend that offers the best possible rolling behavior (keyword: soft) on the one hand, and good stability (keyword: hard) on the other, for use on mostly uneven and yielding forest floors. This becomes even more important as the slope gets steeper, since a more stable outsole makes it easier to apply pressure into or onto the ground, thereby increasing stability.
The high shaft is made of robust and easy-care oily nubuck leather. It protects against moisture and dirt, as well as accidental ankle rolls. It is also generously reinforced with cut-protection fibers and features a protective toe cap.
Versatile areas of application
Tree felling and clearing work, timber harvesting and logging, thinning and storm damage cleanup, or tree and landscape maintenance—wherever chainsaws are used, the S2 cut-resistant boots SEPP reliably protect your feet from lacerations. The construction of the boot combines safety, comfort, and mobility into a robust, long-lasting forestry boot that meets the daily demands of the forest.
Anyone looking for a durable forestry boot, a reliable cut-resistant boot, or a boot for forestry work and other chainsaw operations will find the SEPP to be a strong partner for daily use in the woods.
SEPP – developed for people who do a lot of sawing!
